At North East Shoring, we have been open to serve those essential employees who continue their work throughout New England amidst the global pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus. As essential to the essential workers, we have been closely monitoring the situation and following guidelines set forth by the governors of our states as well as directives form the Utility Contractors’ Association of New England (UCANE)’s executive director, Jeff Mahoney and the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

As more and more states begin to reopen their economies, OSHA has issued enforcement policies to ensure the health and safety of construction employees across the nation. While construction jobs that were considered essential continued during the initial crisis and lockdown of most businesses and municipalities, during the four-phase reopening plan, those projects that were initially paused because they were considered non-essential resumed work as of May 18.

The state of Massachusetts has issued specific COVID-19 guidance for construction sites and construction workers that include mandatory safety standards to reduce the risk of infection for employees, as well as residents in homes and buildings that are being remodeled. What Does That Mean For North East Shoring?

At North East Shoring, we exist for the sole purpose of construction worker’s safety. We sell and rent trenching safety equipment including trench boxes, road plates, cranes, and more. While we have been here to serve you and your crew during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to make some changes to the way we do business, too. To improve safety for our crew and reduce the risk of infection for us, you, and New England residents, a few of the modifications to usual business that you may notice include:

  • Sanitized equipment
  • Our crew wearing gloves
  • Social distancing for sales team between customers
  • Increased phone and email contact versus in-person
  • No deal will be sealed with a handshake
  • Single delivery drivers
  • If we have face-to-face contact, our crew will be wearing masks

While day to day interactions may have to change, for the time being, we are hopeful that business will resume as normal within the coming months. While some things may require change, you can still expect the same great service, dedication to your safety, and unbeatable equipment at fair prices. We are still renting and selling trenching equipment to meet your needs and can deliver anywhere in New England.
